The Estonian American Chamber of Commerce & Industry commemorated the 85th Anniversary of Estonian Independence with its inaugural ball at the Holiday Inn Martinique in Manhattan on February 28. The ball was also a fundraising event intended to strengthen the Chamber’s ties in the community as well as its position on the entrepreneurial landscape in New York.

Guests gathered for a cocktail reception where they enjoyed TÜRI vodka cocktails. There was also a large display table that featured brochures and introductory materials about event sponsors.

Following the cocktail hour, guests entered the beautifully decorated ballroom, where the Chamber’s energetic and elegant president, Krista Altok Tassa welcomed guests and donors. She introduced the evening’s co-sponsors, as well as other speakers who offered their best wishes for Estonian Independence Day: Mark Jaffe (pictured here enjoying a spin around the dance floor with Ms. Tassa), Executive Director for the Greater New York Chamber of Commerce, Reimo Pettai, Acting Consul General of Estonia in New York and Aimée Chabot, representative for the evening’s keynote sponsor, TÜRI vodka.  In her keynote address Ms. Chabot noted the positive reception for TÜRI since its September market launch in America, as well as the growth of transatlantic ties and trade between the U.S. and Estonia.

Ellyn Travel, Inc., The Estonian American National Council, Inc. as well as other corporate and individual members, sponsoring organizations and donors.

Dance music for the evening was provided by the Broadview Boys from Toronto, made possible through a generous donation from Richard and Velda Morgen. A rich feast included Estonian pirukad and kringel prepared by Tuula Malmi.
